Linux Systems Engineer/Administrator required. Skills: Linux/IIS Support/Web Master. Requirement: Flexible Systems Engineer with Linux/IIS and Web skills required by Cambridge software house, market leader in its field. It is a small, integrated team with the security of being part of a larger group. They employ a mixture of open source and Microsoft based technologies and are looking for a someone capable in both Windows and Linux hosting environments who should be able to set up and maintain a good selection of products, with Apache, IIS, Windows, Linux as a bare minimum. You will also be able to manage the basic workings of both operating systems, such as domain names and accounts, together with security issues. What sets this Web Master and support job apart from others is that the client is constantly trying out new packages and techniques that have to be installed, understood and performance tuned, with particular attention on improving the weakest links - all of which makes for a far more interesting job than just tending the boxes. We are looking for a hard working but relaxed quick learner with the basic requirements who will positively welcome these challenges. This role is open to both the usual supects and also to candidates who are enthusiastic and knowledgeable but lack a corporate background. The job can be available as contract, permanent or contract initially with option to go permanent later.
